Dear Redeemer Family,

Last night the Elder Board and the Elder Advisory Council met to discuss the appropriate response of our church to the sad reality of increasing COVID-19 cases throughout our country and specifically in Dallas County. As of yesterday evening, Dallas County experienced a new record high of hospitalizations, and statewide we’ve broken the record once again for the number of deaths from the virus.

In light of this resurgence of the virus (potentially due to a combination of holiday travel and a new more virulent strain now found in the state) the 10 men in attendance last night agreed that we should once again take the extreme step of returning to virtual services and events. This is not a decision taken lightly, nor is it one motivated by fear of what is going on in our community.

The text from last week’s sermon still rings in our ears: “Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything…” We know that God is not surprised by any of this! Our response is not motivated by anxiety, but by love (There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear ~ 1 John 4.18). Love for one another, and love for our surrounding community. We desire that our gentleness be known to everyone—that our care for one another and those around us would be tangibly seen as we sacrifice our preferences and desires as a way to serve others.

We will continue to livestream our worship services both on Facebook and on at 11 am each Sunday. We are also launching a new 12-week small group study to go along with our new sermon series on the life of Jacob called “Blessing of Breaking.” We would love to have you join an existing small group or be a part of a new small group. This is an excellent way to have fellowship and grow closer to one another in our church family even when we are unable to gather! Learn more and sign-up by visiting

Finally, we will be looking for new and creative ways for us to be able to connect with one another and to serve our community during this season. Please prayerfully consider how you might get involved as we keep you informed. The church is much more than a mere building. May we look back at this season of pandemic as a time when God worked powerfully in and through Redeemer Bible Church for his glory!

In the service of the church and the love of Christ,
